Name and History
Mitla is an important Zapotec archaeological site in the state of Oaxaca in Mexico. Mitla Black is often sold as a tepary bean (Phaseolus acutifolius), but that is dubious.

Bushy climbing plants to 4-6 feet. Leaves and stems tinged with purple.

Small, slightly flattened, and solid black with a prominent white hilum. A mini version of the usual black beans.
