Name and History
From France in the 1800s. Means "Countess of Chambord" in French, and probably named after Marie-Thérèse de Modène, wife of Henri of Artois, once a claimant to the French throne and disputedly king for a week. Also known as Rice Bean due to the size and color of the seeds. First offered in the Seed Savers Exchange in 1982.
Uses
Tender little snap beans, or quick-cooking dry beans.
Description
Growth: Bush to a foot tall. Maturity 80-100 days.
Flowers:
Pods: Green, round, small, tender, stringless.
Seeds: Small shiny white seeds.
