Name and History
Developed and named by Robert Lobitz of Minnesota, who first offered in the Seed Savers Exchange in 2003. Alice Sunshine is the name of a few people, one of them a California activist; I don't know know who in particular it was named for.
Uses
Primarily a snap bean, with a flavor that seems to be universally enjoyed. Dry bean also.
Description
Growth: Big, runnerless bush about 2 feet tall. Produces lots of pods. Snap bean maturity estimates range from 49-90 days with the majority of people saying 50 days. Dry seed is estimated to mature starting between 80-120 days.
Flowers: White.
Pods: Green, flat, about 6 inches long.
Seeds: Mostly very pale yellow, with an amber blotch around the hilum and small amber dots sprinkled in the pale yellow.
