Name and History

Collected in 1983 in Vasszilvagy, Hungary and later donated to the USDA, where it's archived as PI 507984. English name instated by Christopher Hoetschl of Wisconsin: "Giant Red" for the size and color of the seeds, and "Tarka" meaning "spotted" in Hungarian to reference the pattern and origin of the seeds.
