Name and History
Given to the Barksdale Family of Salem, Illinois by Aunt Lavera Halsclaw, who was 101 years old in 1983. Exactly matches a 1907 description of Golden Cluster wax bean, a variety supposedly lost due to cross-pollination with commercial beans.
Uses
Snap. Pods remain stringless and tender for a long time.
Description
Growth: Range of 62-90 days to snap bean harvest; 72 on average. Vigorous, branching vines 8-10 feet tall or more. Very productive, but needs cooler nights/weather to set seed well. Germinates well in cool soil.
Flowers: White.
Pods: Large, straight, flat, and yellow. Pods 6-8 inches long and borne in bunches of up to 10. 6-8 seeds per pod.
Seeds: Small, elongated, and solid white.
