Name and History

From Johnny's Selected Seeds.

First offered in the Seed Savers Exchange in 1985 by AB in California.

Uses

Sprouts, snap beans, or dry beans. Dry beans cook in less than an hour with no pre-soaking.

Description

Growth: 85-120 days to maturity; 103 days on average. Plant 20-30 inches tall. Very productive with lots of pods. Reports are divided on whether the plant is upright or needs a trellis. Growers in short-season areas report it matures reliably.

Flowers:

Pods: 8-9 seeds per pod.

Seeds: Solid dark red with a white hilum. Small.
