Name and History
First offered in the Seed Savers Exchange in 1995 by D.H. of Tennessee who got it from Warren Lewis of Steens, Mississippi in 1989.
Description
Growth:
Like other willow leaf limas, said to resist drought. Leaves long, narrow, and pointed like the eponymous willow leaves. 85-110 days to maturity. Very productive.
Flowers:
White aging to yellow. Very attractive to hummingbirds, to my surprise.
Pods:
Flat and green like always. Up to 3 seeds per pod.
Seeds:
Flat and on the smaller side. Seven patterns: solid white, solid red, solid black (actually very dark red), light brown with dark red speckles, dark red with light brown speckles, red with dark red speckles, lighter brown with black speckles.
Uses and Opinions
Shell or dry beans. Very tasty shell beans that converted two of my formerly lima-hating friends.
