Name and History
From the Bethel area of Haywood County, North Carolina. Like other "pink tip" beans, the pointed tip turns pink right when the pods are mature for eating as a (full) snap bean. Said to be the only variety that's both a pink tip and a greasy.
Description
Growth:
Productive climbing plants.
Flowers:
White at first, aging to cream, and then yellow.
Pods:
4-6 inches long and stringed. Pods start out solid green and as they mature turn yellow with pink tips, a pink ring around the attachment to the stem, and a pink blush along the inside seam. Some of mine got an all-over purple blush instead of localized pink. 6 seeds per pod.
Seeds:
Small and solid white.
Uses and Opinions
A stringed snap bean, eaten when full. Recommended for flavor by Sustainable Mountain Agricultural Center, where it's one of their best sellers.
