Name and History

Heritage variety sometimes sold commercially. Thought to have been introduced by Burpee in 1891 as a sport of Carolina Lima, though one Seed Savers Exchange member describes it as being "in Mrs. Thweat's family in Tennessee for 200 years," so there may be multiple strains under one name.

Description

Growth: Like other willow leaf limas, said to resist heat and drought. Leaves long, narrow, and pointed like the eponymous willow leaves. 65-100 days to maturity. Tall, productive vines.
Flowers: White aging to yellow.
Pods: Flat and green. 3 seeds per pod.
Seeds: Flat and small. Solid white.
